Fruit grown the slow way

Ramanathapuram is one of the driest districts in southern Tamil Nadu. For decades this land carried nothing but thorny scrub, abandoned by everyone who tried to farm it. Today it carries mango, amla, guava, coconut, sapota, lemon, ber, tamarind and jackfruit.

Nothing about that happened quickly. It took years of clearing, levelling, drilling and waiting before the first sapling went into the ground. What grows here now grows because the soil was rebuilt, not forced.

We sell direct from the farm, anywhere in India. No cold-chain middlemen, no carbide ripening, no artificial colouring, no minimum order. You get the fruit at the stage the tree finished it.

Why It's Different

Grown Naturally

Cow dung from our own dairy, roughly 30 kg per tree every year. Vermicompost. Chemical use kept to the minimum the crop will tolerate, and one four-acre mango block kept entirely chemical-free. Nothing is ripened with carbide.

Water Used Twice Over

Every drop is borewell-drawn or harvested from rain, stored in a revived farm well, and delivered through drip lines laid before a single tree was planted. Solar panels run the pumps. In a district where water decides everything, none of ours is wasted.

Land That Gives Back

Our orchards are managed as permanent carbon sinks, pruned annually so the trees never stop putting on new wood, and never stop absorbing carbon. Around 428 tonnes of CO₂ every year, alongside food and rural income from the same acre.

Our Story

Vallandai in 2007 was not farmland. It was scrub. For decades the land here had been given over to prosopis juliflora, the thorny bush locally called semaikaruvel or kaattu karuvelam. Local people grew it, burned it, an...

The District Collector of Ramanathapuram. The Dean of Horticulture at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The Deputy and Assistant Directors of Horticulture. Our own Village Administrative Officer.

Each visited the farm. Each put in writing what they found: a model horticultural farm in a dry agroclimatic area, and a village that changed because of it.
